Guidelines for Acer Aspire 5943G safe battery usage

This notebook uses a Lithium-ion battery. Do not use it in a humid, wet or corrosive environment. Do not put, store or leave your product in or near a heat source, in a high temperature location, in strong direct sunlight, in a microwave oven or in a pressurized container, and do not expose it to temperatures over 60°C (140°F). Failure to follow these guidelines may cause the battery to leak acid, become hot, explode or ignite and cause injury and/or damage. Do not pierce, open or disassemble the battery. If the battery leaks and you come into contact with the leaked fluids, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention immediately. For safety reasons, and to prolong the lifetime of the battery, charging will not occur at temperatures below 0°C (32°F) or above 40°C (104°F).

The full performance of a new Acer Aspire 5943G battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wear out. When the operation time becomes noticeably shorter than normal, buy a new battery. Use only the approved batteries, and recharge your battery only with the approved chargers designated for this device.

Original ACER Aspire 5943G 14.8V 6000mAh laptop battery

Use the Acer Aspire 5943G battery only for its intended purpose. Never use any charger or battery that is damaged. Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metallic object such as a coin, clip or pen causes direct connection of the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery. (These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might happen, for example, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the connecting object.

The capacity and lifetime of the battery will be reduced if the battery is left in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter. Always try to keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). A device with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily, even when the battery is fully charged. Battery performance is especially limited in temperatures well below freezing.

Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged. Dispose of batteries according to local regulations. Please recycle when possible. Do not dispose as household waste.

Wireless devices may be susceptible to interference from the battery, which could affect performance.

Things you should know about Acer Aspire 7741 battery

Before you use a battery pack for the first time, there is a"conditioning" process that you should follow:

Insert the new battery without turning the computer on.
Connect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery.
Disconnect the AC adapter.
Turn on the computer and operate using battery power.
Fully deplete the battery until the battery-low warning appears.
Reconnect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery again.

Follow these steps again until the Acer Aspire 7741 battery has been charged and discharged three times.Use this conditioning process for all new batteries, or if a battery hasn't been used for a long time. If the computer is to be stored for morethan two weeks, you are advised to remove the battery pack from the unit.

Original Acer Aspire 7741 battery
By following the battery conditioning process you condition your battery to accept the maximum possible charge. Failure to follow thisprocedure will prevent you from obtaining the maximum battery charge, and will also shorten the effective lifespan of the battery. In addition, the useful lifespan of the battery is adversely affected bythe following usage patterns:

•Using the computer on constant AC power with the battery inserted. If you want to use constant AC power, you are advised toremove the battery pack after it is fully charged.
•Not discharging and recharging the battery to its extremes, asdescribed above.
•Frequent use; the more you use the battery, the faster it will reach the end of its effective life. A standard computer battery has a lifespan of about 300 charges.

Protect yourself from the heat that your computer generates.
When your computer is turned on or the battery is charging, the base, the palm
rest, and some other parts may become hot. The temperature they reach
depends on the amount of system activity and the level of charge in the battery.
Extended contact with your body, even through clothing, could cause
discomfort or even a skin burn.
• Avoid keeping your hands, your lap, or any other part of your body in
contact with a hot section of the computer for any extended time.
• Periodically take hands from using the keyboard by lifting your hands from
the palm rest.

Protect yourself from the heat generated by the ac power adapter
When the LENOVO ThinkPad X1 Carbon ac power adapter is connected to an electrical outlet and your
computer, it generates heat.
Extended contact with your body, even through clothing, may cause a skin
burn.
• Do not place the ac power adapter in contact with any part of your body
while it is in use.
• Never use it to warm your body.

Prevent your computer from getting wet.
To avoid spills and the danger of electrical shock, keep liquids away from your
computer.

Protect the cables from being damaged.
Applying strong force to cables may damage or break them.
Route communication lines, or the cables of an ac power adapter, a mouse, a
keyboard, a printer, or any other electronic device, so that they cannot be walked
on, tripped over, pinched by your computer or other objects, or in any way
subjected to treatment that could interfere with the operation of your computer

Protect your computer and data when moving it
Before moving a computer equipped with a hard disk drive, do one of the
following, and make sure that the power button is off or is blinking:
• Turn it off.
• Put it in sleep mode.
• Put it in hibernation mode.
This will help to prevent damage to the computer, and possible loss of data.

Handle your computer gently.
Do not drop, bump, scratch, twist, hit, vibrate, push, or place heavy objects on
your computer, display, or external devices.

Carry your computer carefully.
Use a quality carrying case that provides adequate cushioning and protection.
• Do not pack your computer in a tightly packed suitcase or bag.
• Before putting your computer in a carrying case, make sure that it is off, in sleep
mode, or in hibernation mode. Do not put a computer in a carrying case while it
is turned on.

Five easiest way to speed up your Lenovo ThinkPad X240

We Know you must be extremely frustrated when you need to get your work done BUT your Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is as slow as a snail. But you don't need to be, because we are here to tell you how to speeed up your laptop. Now follow up:

Clean out the dust

Tiny specks of dust don't often come to mind as having a huge effect on system performance, but even in the cleanest home or office, dust collects in the fans and vents of your notebook computer. This can affect people with allergies, as well as seriously impact a system's performance and life-cycle. Video cards give off a lot of heat, especially when watching a movie or playing a game, and as this dust collects, it affects the computer's ability to cool itself down. Imagine driving a car with no oil through the desert.

When a computer can no longer cool down, it can trigger a forced shutdown. By clearing the dust out of the vents with a brush or a can of compressed air, the computer's cooling system will once again do its job. Open up an old laptop and be amazed at how much dust has collected inside over time.

Check RAM and the hard drive

Age can have an adverse effect on your hardware but users can check on performance with the help of handy monitoring tools that identify if a configuration error or simple deterioration is to blame for a lull in the laptop's performance. It is recommended to run a few of these tests before upgrading or filing a warranty claim with the device's manufacturer. If the RAM or hard drive are identified as the source of the problem, both can be serviced by someone familiar with hardware components for a relatively low price (compared to the price of a new machine). Also, a full hard drive can seriously impact system performance, so if you're running out of space, it's wise to back up the old disk and swap it out for a new one.

Uninstall useless programs

By taking a quick look at the PC's Control Panel, you can quickly identify and remove any software programs that are rarely used. Go through this list with a fine-tooth comb, uninstalling any programs that you don't use often, but remembering to exercise caution when uninstalling programs that may be unfamiliar. Many computers will come with software and files pre-installed, but identifying which of these no longer serve a purpose can free up some storage space and boost performance. It is important to uninstall software correctly, as merely deleting a folder or shortcut leaves unwanted files on the computer.

Upgrade antivirus software

Sometimes the very software tasked with protecting a system could be the one slowing it down. Antivirus solution providers have focused on the speed of their offerings in recent years, but performance may be impacted if a computer is running an older version.

System and malware scans can sap a computer's performance, especially considering they analyze hundreds of thousands of files, folders and other information. Make sure that only one antivirus program is running on a machine at a time, and research which programs run large numbers of background processes.

Reinstall Windows

When all else fails, you can resort to reinstalling Windows. This should only be used as a last-ditch effort to save a slow-performing computer because it can be tedious and time-consuming. If you decide to venture down this path, make sure you have (at least one) backup of your data, as the hard-drive may be reformatted during the installation.
